Welcome to Mansfield Texas!

A city that calls itself “Minutes to Everything. Second to None”. Mansfield Texas is a suburb of Dallas and is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Mansfield was ranked #17 in CNN/Money Magazine’s “Best Places to Live” list. It is the 15 th most affluent locations in all of Texas. In the past century, Mansfield has gone from a rural farming community to a bustling suburban city of over 73,000 people. Despite its rapid growth, Mansfield has kept its small-town feel and friendly atmosphere. With over 900 acres of parkland, a historic downtown area, recreational opportunities for all ages, superior rated schools, quality housing and a growing business community. Mansfield is a wonderful place to live and raise a family.

The heart of the city…

Historic downtown Mansfield started at the intersection of Main and Broad Streets in 1856. This is where Ralph Man and Julian Feild built a three story grist mill, which produced flour and
meal for the area. At the same time, Feild opened a general store across the street. Thus began the nucleus of the city of Mansfield. By 1860, the first post office opened – Feild was the postmaster. The community prospered, and combined the names of its founders to “Mansfeild” – a series of misspellings over the years resulted in the conventional spelling of “Mansfield”. the town incorporated in 1909 and continued to be a hub for the surrounding farmland.

The historic downtown area is still a vibrant shopping area. It offers professional services, specialty shops, restaurants and food stores, and the original Farr Best Theater! A stop at the Mansfield Historic Museum/Society, located at the intersection that started it all – Main and Broad – will help you appreciate where the town came from, and where they’re headed!

The Mansfield area is served by Mansfield ISD, one of the fastest-growing districts in the region.

Rated “A” by the Texas Education Agency, Mansfield ISD serves over 35,000 students. Athletes participate in
both Texas 5A and 6A sports designations; our Fine Arts Department offers all music and theater opportunities as well as Academic Decathalon, Cheerleading, and Art. The students of Mansfield ISD are in good hands – it is, indeed, “a great place to Live, Learn & Teach”.
